The term ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘YUJ’, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to yoke’ or ‘to unite’. The practice of Yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with thatof the Universal Consciousness, indicating a perfect harmony between the mind and body, Man & Nature. The aim of Yoga is Self-Realisation, to overcome all kinds of sufferings leading to 'the state of liberation'.

In the last few decades, the practice of Yoga has become very popular. Though it is an ancient Indian science, today it is practiced as a fitness regime and therapy. Yoga therapy has become an adjunct to modern medicine. It is imperative to understand yoga in the light of science that would help in identifying the right method of practicing yoga and also evaluating the risks and benefits involved.

PG Diploma in Yoga is a Diploma level Yoga and Naturopathy program. The program teaches, prepare and get ready deserving students in the various parts of Yoga, which deals with the problems of integration of personality as an initial step to set oneself up for the higher exclusive practices.

The PG diploma program in yoga prepares the candidates as Yoga Therapy teacher or instructor as paramedical personnel in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes to introduce IAYT under the direction of specialists, the members to run their own Yoga Centres they fill in as advisors at Naturopathy doctor's facilities, health clubs etc.

Such postgraduates are hired in capacities such as Yoga Teacher, Assist. Ayurvedic Doctor, Clinical Psychologist, Therapist, Yoga Instructor etc. A fresh graduate in this field can earn an average salary between INR 2 to 8 Lacs per annum depending on the caliber and experience of the student.
